The constitution can only be amended by the people in a referendum -- belongs to the people not politicians.
Idea of judges running for office is anathema. An independent judiciary makes its own appointments. Politics not part of it.

Proportional voting
No vote suppression
US overdue a rethink. We amend frequently.

@samueljohnson This all sounds good. The central idea of Lepore's book is that the US Constitution is too hard to amend.
