  @UrbanCityCowboy @signalapp The article clearly explains how the deleted messages were recovered thanks to notification logs that had displayed message content. That has to do with the phone OS and not the app itself. Signal is reasonably private compared to other messengers, but like I said it's not a panacea that will save your ass if you don't use in conjunction with other precautions in accordance with your threat model. The same applies to any other application or service. In this case, not using a personal device for sensitive activities and disabling notifications entirely or setting them to not show any message content would have helped, but again, that alone would not save the suspects from being identified and apprehended.
