@FediThing interesting, I've never heard of it before. Is it independent news or existing orgs on an additional frequency? Sounds so niche I'd worry about credibility if it's all sources you can't research/vouch.

@xavier_hm Shortwave radio is like normal radio but the frequencies reach around the planet. The sound quality is very low, but the transmissions reach much longer distances than normal radio, so it's mainly used for news and information. Shortwave radio has been going for about a hundred years, it's the simplicity that keeps it viable as it is cheap enough for any country to set up a transmitter. I'm only suggesting this as a backup in case your own country's connections get shut down or compromised in the future. In those circumstances, it's useful to have access to alternative sources of information.
