@Synchro@phpc.social @gimulnautti@mastodon.green @mason@partychickens.net @Paul_Taylor@mathstodon.xyz We have a listserv for our standard development working group that every single person had to proactively ask to join. The instructions for leaving are at the bottom of every email. We normally send one or two emails a week with action items and meeting invite details. One week, some people on the list started having an actual technical conversation related to the topic of the list. According to the alerts I get as owner of the list, Google immediately flagged the listserv as spam and invisibly blocked *every* gmail address on the list from receiving our messages - no notification to our members, no recourse, just a blanket ban. Everyone on that list, including me, *requested* those emails. My own gmail address was blocked. I contacted our org about getting it fixed and I stopped getting notifications, but I have precisely zero idea what they did to fix it.
