Saw elsewhere the idea that the “official” who threatened Leo XIV with an “Avignon papacy” (ie, controlled by force by a monarch) is probably JD Vance. He’s ostentatiously a convert and law graduate, it’s the sort of thing he’d say. And so now I’m reading the Code of Canon Law (1984) to see if he can be excommunicated. So far looking good
