I'm old enough to have seen every "keep the Internet free!" political issue that people focused on fail. From cookie warnings/opt-outs to net neutrality to, now, "age verification" i.e. building everyone's ID into their operating system.
Pushback against any of these does not work because the whole system is predatory and the tech world is run by horrible people.

What can be done about this? Flat illegality is probably the first thing that people are going to try, but the problem is that everyone exists in a world where the vast majority of everyone else is using a legal, mainstream system. Just try to work with people on anything that involves data and not have one of them run it through Microsoft Excel.
