Starting my own thread so as not to interject into the main one:
Should there be some expectation on server moderation to mitigate this behavior? I know creepy male gaze comments are a societal issue and cannot be solved by content moderation, but that is the first thing I think of to make the Fediverse safer for everyone, especially women

@jerbear@kind.social I think outside of building a culture where people don't do this, it's really hard to moderate. Relies strongly in reports, and requires investigation; is this person being creepy or autistic? kind of deal, and requires a pattern of behavior that's difficult to establish if you're moderating more than even 20 people. This is also a stats problem, because even 5% of people being bad actors pollutes your sample, so this is basically a complaint that too many people can see posts.
