Should I replace my phone before it stops getting security updates?
It still works perfectly and I know the best way to reduce its environmental impact is to keep it longer.
I don't know how to balance those two ideas in my head

@cubeofcheese It seems that most updates these days are to embed #AI

@cubeofcheese you might not be the target demographic for most scammers/cyber thieves ;)

@cubeofcheese If not I wouldn't do any banking on it. Maybe not even email. If it is an iPhone turning on lockdown mode might help.

@cubeofcheese you could check the kind of security updates the os of your choice is getting after you no longer get them and decide based on that.

@cubeofcheese depending on model and your nerd enthusiasms there may be after market rom options (eg LineageOS) but ... My phone broke recently, I dug out an iPhone 6S, and it's working kind of great? Just shit enough
