@eudoxos@witter.cz @mason@partychickens.net @Paul_Taylor@mathstodon.xyz I also run my own email... there are a lot of hoops to jump through but 1) it tends to need no ongoing maintenance once it's working, 2) There are a lot of free services for checking eg DNS, SPF an so on from outside that help. I agree it's not easy and feels like it could and should be easier.

    @hopeless @eudoxos @mason @Paul_Taylor The real issue I think is the Internet started out as a Military and University only Arpanet, and during that era mail protocols were developed. Trust on that network was high, almost absolute, that does not work on the Internet we have to day but the base protocols haven't changed, just a lot of add-on's tacked on, os that makes it not easy.
