Pre 1948 Palestine was part of the British Empire and Palestinians held British passports. The British authorities held property records for the country. But the Balfour declaration released large numbers of immigrants and seems to have removed all the citizenship and property rights of the local inhabitants. It seems to me that Britain has more responsibility than any other country towards the appalling conditions in which Palestinians now find themselves. Why are we doing nothing?
