"But perhaps this position [LLM = stochastic parrot] is simply denying an uncomfortable truth: that some portion of our vaunted human capabilities are in fact not that much more sophisticated in nature than the AI algorithms we have now designed to mimic them. And as AI performance continues to advance, such a human-chauvinistic viewpoint risks degenerating into an increasingly untenable “god of the gaps” philosophy..." via https://arxiv.org/abs/2603.26524, Section 6.3 1/2

The phrase "human-chauvinistic" somehow triggered me, because I also see a certain "math-chauvinism" where mathematicians somehow believe that they are these unique unicorns in the way they think and teach and all their sacred traditions elevate them above the rest of humanity. This xkcd is an example of that: https://xkcd.com/435/ I don't like it. Here is a definition from someone's Zettelkasten: https://www.chadly.net/Human-Chauvinism 2/2

@tomkalei I keep saying that LLMs have made it clear once and for all that eloquence and intelligence are not the same.
