A historical TV series about how the solution of the cubic equation was found could work commercially. You would have mystery, love, treason, intrigue, and all of that in the historical and convoluted Italian Renaissance.
(The solution of the cubic was perhaps the greatest new advancement in math in more than 1000 years, something that the classics never found).

For instance, I heard today that Lodovico Ferrari, who found (or invented, depending on your philosophical position) the solution of the quartic equation, was, as some tales tells, poisoned by his sister. Very TV series material.

Yes, solving cubic equations was a big advancement, especially in the light of what came after that in the Abel-Galois direction. I would argue, though, that trigonometry (India, 4th–6th century) was at least as big. @davidsuculum@mathstodon.xyz
