Nah, I don't buy into this populism. Sure it can decrease conflicts over resources, but Dysprosium and Neodym isn't exactly found everywhere. War is also not just a tool to gain leverage over resources it is also to gain power over another people and as climate crisis will intensify struggles over different forms of living/organising together as societies, so will war find new and old ways of killing. Switching to renewable energy is all good game, but we gotta need to keep it real. The buzz around renewable energy currently also serves as a cover up to our ever increasing energy demand, where as the saying goes, 'can keep the demand if we just switch to renewable'...but that's a false premise, as the high energy demand is linked to ecocide, doesn't matter what. Harm reduction is all great, but false hope will lead us to strategies that won't adopt to the circumstances we are in. https://mastodon.social/@greenpeace/116378097000616611
