The plot about the different political factions in the court has never totally made sense, but now it's especially weird because the mastermind behind the plot against Peiyi's family has been exposed, and it's her adoptive mother's brother. Her adoptive mother immediately disavowed him and is clearly on Peiyi's side, but everyone keeps saying that he can't really be punished as long as his sister is the emperor's favored consort???

I don't know anything about family dynamics in Tang-dynasty China, but I really don't get why the whole court is still treating them as co-leaders of their faction after she refused to plead for him with the emperor
