That's a sort of relationship that develops between any company and a modding community, though Bethesda is one of the worst. (So how's the modding going in Minecraft? (screams of the damned)) It's very toxic, and companies shouldn't be allowed to profit from a game that other people helped create. Even if those people are idiots who worship the company for some reason.

    @cy Oof. Markus Peterson and Mojang made me angry for how they treated the modding community, before I found out about Peterson's abhorrent bigotry. Ironically, I think that did teach a fair number of young people some important lessons. There may not really have been any teenaged hackers breaking in to Pentagon databases, but there were teenagers learning Java programming to reverse-engineer Minecraft and create mods for it. Come to think of it, a few years ago I was working with a 17 year old who'd re-written Minecraft in Javascript in order to bypass his school's computer software controls.
