Manga recommendation: Ojousama-kei Teihen Dungeon Haishinsha, Meiwaku-kei wo Bokottara Bazutte Densetsu ni Nattemasu wa!? (A Bottom-Tier Ojousama Dungeon Streamer Beats Up a Nuisance Streamer, Goes Viral, and Becomes a Legend?!) Yes, it's dungeon slop; yes, it's streamer slop; yes, it's level slop. This work breaks little original ground. And yet, neither do potato chips. Doesn't stop anyone from eating them (though it probably should). This manga is a direct strike on my sense of humor. I'm a sucker for ignorantly OP characters with a tsukkomi, and this delivers in spades. The titular ojousama is perfect in this manner; she's horrifically strong, possesses a fair number of common sense-breaking skills, and has no conception of that fact. She's also putting on airs: she's truly an impoverished high school student that makes up for her lack of material wealth with self-made trappings of elegance (crafted from valuable monster materials because she gets them for free). She seeks to make a name for herself streaming, but is ignored as a poser until she interrupts a nuisance streamer (JohnnySomali, if he were Japanese and a dungeon explorer) from planting an explosive. Her contrasting appearance and behavior shoots her to stardom, and each revelation of her power creates more and more waves in the established norms. The art is very good, with ojousama and her trappings being intricately rendered. The action is interesting, though it generally consists of one-panel, one-punch kill gags. Ojousama is cute, and that's all that truly matters. She has excellent reactions, and her reaction to each moment of mismatched expectations brings a smile to your face. It's not unique, and it's not groundbreaking, but it's fun to read and I'm excited whenever I see that a new chapter has been posted. The scans are caught up to the raws as of today, so hopefully the scan team keeps it goes with the release cadence.
