They say the Lord giveth, and the Lord taketh away. At 8.40pm last night, this "lord" tooketh away by letting me pour the contents of the washing up basin down the sink only to discover the waste system had perished - cue water pouring out of the cupboard. By the time I ordered what I hope is the correct replacement part from Screwfix (£40), the 9pm cutoff point had been and gone, so we'll be living with this until tomorrow at least. Woke up this morning to discover the "lord" had giveth back to the tune of £5 on Thunderball. Clearly, this lord is one of those trickle-down, "let them eat cake" types. No wonder he, she, it or they (note the deliberate use of lower case) are so popular among a certain demographic.
