Imagine being in a negotiating position where you're agreeing to all the demands of the weaker party because you've made a threat so morally repugnant that, if you were to carry it out, it would be ruinous to you. You're holding a gun to their head and you're paying them so you don't have to fire it. The definition of backing yourself into a corner.
