I would have killed to have LXD years ago when I first got into server administration. It really is one of those amazing hidden gems that more people need to know about.

@AKernelPanic@fosstodon.org You might also be interested in checking out Incus (linuxcontainers.org), the spiritual successor to LXD. The Linux Containers project was the home of LXD until Canonical brought it in house, changed the license, and the Linux Containers developer inside Canonical decided to leave. Also look at IncusOS, a new related piece of software that is independent of LXD (i.e. happened after).

@AKernelPanic I exclusively use LXD on my Fairphone 5 docked to a NexDock laptop clamshell, and the results are stunning. Not only do I get a full Ubuntu container, I am also able to *work* on Ubuntu Touch, build .deb packages for my beloved mobile OS, directly from within.
