One of the dumbest things you can hear is HR not being happy if you say you want money as your motivation for the job. Those are the exact kind of people I would want to hire.
They're easy. You pay them fairly, give good benefits, market rate raises, and they're going nowhere. You don't have to worry about talent bleed. These are the kind of people who would say, "Hey, Competitor X is offering this; if you can match it, I'd prefer to stay here." And you just match it and guess what? They stay. You're not bleeding institutional talent. You aren't losing the experience you invested in. They're there to get paid.
They're not looking to make waves. They want a job that pays fairly and gives them enough time and money to do their hobbies or take care of their family.
Too many businesses will do anything other than just treat people right. That's not an exaggeration. Number one advice the elite need to be told to prevent unionization is to treat your employees well. Same answer for how to stop your security from overthrowing you in your apocalypse bunker.
