Just wrapped up "Tom's Crossing" by Mark Danielewski. I'll need some time to recuperate from this. Like a mad offspring of Larry McMurtry and Charles Portis with a hint of Cormac McCarthy. The structure is bold, the voice distinct. We could quibble about the ending, but it is so earned it didn't bother me one bit. And my word, Landry Gatestone is instantly one of the great characters of the western genre. Just one beautiful, moving, thoughtful, courageous book. #amreading #books #bookstodon
