It needs to be pretty narrow walled, and quite deep, like a skinnier version of a specialist petrol spark plug socket. OK, put everything together again after cleaning it all out, see what happens. Just needed cleaning is all.
But then realised, perfect 3D printing application if I need to. Yeah, a 3D printed socket in plastic isn't going to last long, but it'll be enough to change a glow-plug, and take about an hour and 20p to make.
