I was actually on the Cypherpunks mailing list during a small part of the period of interest and messed around with HashCash in the context of e(-)mail mixers, but I was very young and didn't know my ass from a public key infrastructure. I do like that this presents the alternate theory, though, that I caught a bad case of Cypherpunk Writing Style.
