@chemoelectric Schwartz means "Black" in German, so I would imagine various families independently have this family name from one another. There are also people named "Black" and "Zwart" or "De Zwart". In some cases they might be related. In my case Schwartzenberg is the Dutchified version of Schwarzenberg (as used by German/Austrian ancestors and descendants of branches that are still there). Hopefully there's a way to capture the information in books that would crumble. That indeed happens.
