I hate to say it, but I wish people would realise the Irish Government can't really do anything about fuel prices. Yes, they can reduce excise duty, but only so much before that causes other problems. Protesting the price of Diesel isn't going to achieve much right now. Making EVs affordable to the average person and removing the tarrifs on Chinese EVs would be much better.

@kelpana It's the same in Australia. People are all upsetti spaghetti because of prices and supply squeeze, demanding that the government do this or that, completely ignoring the fact that the fuel industry is run by multibillion dollar corporations that are raking in obscene profits as a direct consequence of the oil shock. Another case of privatise the profits, socialise the losses.

@kelpana that sums up globalisation in a nut shell. The government's we vote are severally constrained by world economics and politics making their options to make change limited. Despite the rhetoric they spout, global markets control more of their decisions than the desire for change ever will.
