we also apparently used to...
educate the children on how to manipulate the stock market (and, by inverse/extension, how the stock market *gets* manipulated)
(i was too young at the time to really understand this, but we should bring this back!)

no seriously, if you read below the fold... this article really did _teach_ children how this works
