Not often a documentary makes me cry, but Mr. Nobody Against Putin fucked me up. Easily one of the best docs I’ve seen in a long time. Yeah, it just won the Oscar, and sure, take that with a grain of salt. But the film itself is devastating. It follows an AV teacher in a Russian school who witnesses, from the inside, the slow militarization of education—and through that, the militarization of society itself. That’s what makes it so chilling: it doesn’t happen all at once. It happens in small steps. Bit by bit. A uniform here, a patriotic ritual there, soldiers in the classroom, war propaganda dressed up as “values.” By the time people realize what’s happening, the poison is already in the walls. This film should be a warning to anyone with kids in school, anywhere. Do not normalize militarization. Do not let the armed forces into schools. Do not let war culture masquerade as discipline, pride, or education. Because war is never pretty. And the people selling it are always full of shit. https://m.imdb.com/title/tt34965515/
