Pro tip: if you’re recommending a film where kids die to friends who have kids, maybe lead with that shit. A warning first, then the rave review. That said, on the recommendation of two friends, (with no kids) I watched Sirat last night and it was incredible. Also, my home theater setup is a total junkyard miracle: patched-up surround sound built from thrift store finds and literal garbage, plus a dirt-cheap projector. Poor man’s cinema. But this is exactly the kind of film you want to blast loud and watch as big as possible, because the visuals and sound are stunning. Just… parents with young kids should know this movie can hit hard. Beautiful film, but potentially traumatizing territory.
