I hate how much of a thought terminating saying "the purpose of a system is what it does" is becoming but fuck if it doesn't explain a whole fucking lot cc @daedalus

@voltagex @daedalus The effective purpose of a system is what is does. The intended purpose could match the effective purpose or be different.

@voltagex oh, the @daedalus phrase makes me have lots of thoughts, but most of them are of the [REDACTED] variety. sometimes i put them through several edit processes until they become mildly worded letters expressing my disappointment in a manner that is not legally actionable, and i send them to an elected official’s office.
