Does anyone know if there was a particular term that emerged for describing the 2D detailed smiley that made up the #indieweb of the mid-90s to mid-00s? I remember crawling sites in that time admiring all the love people put into them. I've been trying to find sites that archived them to build out my own site, and had very little luck with sites like GifCities.
