I'm a bit odd about food in fiction. I can't stand it when it's completely omitted, well, unless the characters are noncorporeal, I suppose. It is such an integral part of being human, socially, physically, and even spiritually.
And it irks me when food is disregarded in movies. You know the cliché, elaborate cooked breakfast, husband just takes a sip of coffee and rushes off. Or storming off in a restaurant...
It has me yelling "Eat the damn food!" at the TV.

@HeliaXyana I guess in books, it is just something that you may not see. But in movies - totally. Finish the food, or the drink. The victim has been murdered so you can wait another 5 minutes to finish. And people if they are not SAS who seem to get by all day without any food - not happening.
