Is anyone maintaining a page of how to tell car companies to stop? I see dated information at Mozilla and Consumer Reports, and vague and confusing information about "if you don't have a subscription, they're not doing this."
In particular, there's a lot of "you can opt out by logging in." Does that mean that the data isn't collected if you don't have an account, or that they're using identity resolution providers?

@adamshostack@infosec.exchange Any new car sale is going to obligate the dealer to provide the owner's name and contact information to the manufacturer (for financing in most cases, and to carry out recalls and other consumer safety notification obligations).
