@Richard_Littler@mastodon.social Condon wrote *amazing* political satires, the best remembered of which today are probably "The Manchurian Candidate" and "Winter Kills" (both ended up as movies), but also the Prizzi books (about a deeply stupid Mob hitman who makes it big) and a bunch more thrillers. He probably peaked during the Nixon era: I don't know if anyone's filled his niche since.
