There is a narrative that SF is progressive, and that CA state politics are much more mixed or reactionary, and the city of SF is always fighting with the CA state government over things. And while that's true in many ways, the death cult is openly celebrated in SF. The state capital in Sacramento doesn't require SF to treat Yudkowsky like the second coming of christ, does it?
