nginx frustrates me sometimes. I previously defined some error_page directives in my defaults for 502 and 504 to show a fancy page when my apps were down (maintenance or bug), and it worked. But recently I noticed they no longer do, and the internet's solution of enabling proxy_intercept_errors captures _all_ errors, not just ones I wish. I solved it by copying down the default blocks into the location blocks for each app, but I shouldn't have to. Also, nginx's docs need a search box.
