I've self hosted before but from a vps for the static ip. I just learned about ASNs a few weeks ago when I found out IoT can still communicate direct to IP bypassing dns blocking on a home router. Still haven't implemented though. Always more to learn.
Also feel uncomfortable inviting traffic onto a home network too.

I run this server in a VM and I expose this site via Cloudflare Tunnel. I do realize that Cloudflare Tunnel is not FOSS, and that's a sacrifice I'm willing to make because port-forwarding is worse. Everything it exposes, in my case, is FOSS and that's good enough for me; it's simply not worth it to have an entry point.
