Things that could only happen to me: I called 911 because there was a bunch of smoke in my building (everything was okay in the end!) and the firefighters showed up to the wrong building a block away

“Goodness this role!” Monica begins. “I really struggled with changing personality. I had to play a vulnerable character yet in real life I hate showing people my weak side. I would rather pretend to be strong and yet here I was supposed to undergo manipulation, betrayal by those I love the most and stand it.” https://sisifilmcollective.org/the-law-of-consequences-a-film-that-got-nominated-for-uff/ #writing #writingcommunity #film #movies #blogging

"My dream is to own a gallery with my photographs all over the walls, with pictures of people, places, and sunsets or whatever caught my eye. I dreamed that people would come from far and wide to see my photographs because they’d seen raving reviews online." "I became a teacher as life sometimes takes unexpected turns, but I almost lost this job because of trying to nurture my fetish, watching movies with Top Class infants. Thinking about it right now – I think I was possessed." See our Stories #SisiStories https://sisifilmcollective.org/the-film-bus-to-kampala/ #writing #writingcommunity #film #movies #blogging

"I’ve always wanted to be a filmmaker, because I’m passionate about ending gender-based violence. I know, it’s a broad ambition, and a little vague, but the film industry is dominated by males, and women suffer a lot of humiliation and harassment to get to go the top, " See our Stories #SisiStories https://sisifilmcollective.org/i-gained-confidence-to-pursue-film/ #writing #writingcommunity #film #movies #blogging

For a while, Sisi Film Lab has mainly been running film trainings, covering different areas of filmmaking. Now we’re expanding our training to acting as well. We’re starting acting workshops for aspiring and emerging actors to learn, practise and develop their acting skills for film and television. We’re excited to create more spaces for people who want to learn and grow in acting. https://sisifilmcollective.org/acting-2026/ #writing #writingcommunity #film #movies #blogging

This year, we’re taking Sisi Film Lab to Moroto, a district that has had limited opportunities for film training and filmmaking. We want to take the training beyond the usual places and create more opportunities for people in different parts of Uganda to learn filmmaking, tell their own stories and develop their skills. #film #movies #filmmaker #filmmaking #SisiStories #cinema

Today is our movie night, and this time we’re watching It Was Just an Accident and Sister Midnight. Last month, some of the audience didn’t quite understand The Night of Counting the Years, but that ended up leading to some really beautiful conversations about the film and the different ways people interpreted it. So now we are curious to see the kind of conversations we’ll have around today. #film #movies #filmmaker #filmmaking #SisiStories #cinema

Oluba Ronald didn’t plan for film at first. Life had other plans, and even at home, it wasn’t the obvious choice for him. But he showed up anyway, balancing training, home responsibilities, and long walks to the training but slowly found his place in it. #film #movies #filmmaker #filmmaking #SisiStories #cinema
