#introduction I’m a songwriter and musician from the City of Bradford, West Yorkshire. I’ve been making music for many years with a number of different projects, covering a few different styles within the realm of rock music I currently sing and play guitar with my band @dawnofelysium@social.outpost10.uk We play a sort of gothic progressive rock, taking in many influences. It’s a great band with some wonderful musicians and I really love it. It’s been going since 2012 in total but it’s really...

Some of my friends have been making very hurtful remarks about my choosing to wear mittens rather than gloves... But I don't like to point fingers.

PLEASE DON’T LET WINTER FIND US UNPREPARED. 💔🌧️ In Gaza, winter is not just cold weather. For families living in fragile shelters, rain can mean flooding, cold can mean suffering, and hunger never stops. I am trying to protect my children and provide them with food, warm clothes, blankets and basic necessities. Please stand with my family before winter arrives. Donate if you can. Share if you cannot. 🤍🇵🇸 https://chuffed.org/project/178778help-hebas-family-survive-the-gaza-crisis #gazaverified...

Well, that explains it! FYI, this guy is no longer a representative, he lost his primary this year to another MAGA chud.

RE: https://mastodon.online/@Pepijn/115021948428162829 It's been a year and even now not a duck goes by without me thinking "huh, you could be in IT mate!" It's nice to connect with nature.

I'm on the server floor of a "highly secure data center with 24/7/365 surveillance, direct access control and robust perimeter security". An actual duck just walked by. 🦆 The panic is absolutely glorious. I think this just became one of the highlights of my life.

You learn about new math, then its hard. Then you figure it out and it's easy. Then you learn about new math...

@cypnk Also, "true" is often subjective.

@LexPendragon I honestly can't be upset at Trump. I'm upset at congress for not acting.

@radicalrobit @Catsandcatsandcats I'm from Rural Pennsylvania... this isn't funny :)

@cypnk The DEC PDP-11 was used heavily in industrial settings, and is planning to still be used in nuclear facilities until 2050.
-
@cypnk We were doing realtime graphics on 100Mhz computers, now we have 3Ghz computers with multiple cores but somehow the web browser pauses. If you design your code properly you can get away with much smaller hardware.

@thamesynne @cypnk Thats the secret, don't let it grow by accretion.

@cwdolunt@mastodon.social @cypnk Archie and Veronica forever!

Hardware is a huge issue. Back in the day you have a parallel port. super easy to use and customize. Today you have USB, which is a mess. Also modern hardware fails quickly (electrolytic caps and whatnot) and it can be difficult to get modern hardware to run old software.
-
@vertigo @thamesynne @cypnk The software isn't too big of a deal as long as you plan ahead. ie: what technologies are you sure are going to still be around in 20-30 years? C++, TCP, Ethernet, SQL
-
@thegibson I think the only way I'd be ok with this is if the old cast came back, but were all working various soul crushing infosec jobs at big corporations.
-
@cypnk How about just boxing? Full protective gear.
