@logomancer Which HOTAS you looking at?
-
@logomancer I think if you want to go hardcore the thrustmaster warthog is still very good. (Pretty much all thrustmaster stuff is good). I've also heard good things about the logitech x series (x52, x56)

@cypnk corollary: You don't have to agree with everything someone has said, no matter how important they were. (and in fact you probably shouldn't)

Anyone want to write a simple OS targeting the VirtualBox paravirtualization interface?
-
Today I ran a model checker (cbmc) on a sudoko solver to prove memory safety. Certainly a toy problem. But now I know my sudoko solver is verified to be written in memory safe C. Who knew this can be so simply? (I do not expect it to be that simple for real programs, but the underlying technology for sure is mature enough).

I can now confirm: Emergency cell broadcasts do work in spain! It would be nice if they weren't exclusively in spanish though... (edit: not -> now.)

So if you had to rebuild a Grafana container image as part of a k8s or docker compose cluster in the last month, and you were using "latest" as the base image, you may have found out that the Prometheus plug-in is now not built in to the image, and the container needs outbound Internet access to fetch it. #grafana #prometheus #containers #selfhosted

RE: https://bne.social/@phocks/117328604383418168 So much of stack overflow now has old and outdated answers where better answers to the same question exist but have not been recorded as such. But SO is/was not a wiki that people tend to like a garden. At best, someone years later figures out a new answer and adds it on a question, but it takes a while to percolate above an earlier answer as "better, now." One thing that probably contributed to the toxicity was the drive to ma...

A wrong turn today within southeastern Denver led to a bit of a pleasant surprise, as I unexpectedly came across this bit of furry graffiti. Artist unknown.

I'm here at DenFur 2026, and I just updated my e-ink badge to reflect my current chosen name of Berte Bórquez (the first name going from Berto to Berte to better fit with a sense of non-binaryness -- and Bórquez because BORK.) Oh and yeah, I was able to make the image non-dithered by converting and uploading it specifically as a 1-bit PNG. That's at least for this Badger 2040; I don't have a Badger 2350, so I can't speak to how well it manages images. Art was do...

Okay, who else out here is watching the Ocarina of Time trailer, studying the Wolfos clip at slowest speed possible? [And, er, hoping against a likely-super-low probability that there's a way to mollify any Wolfos, the same way you could mollify enemies in the original Legend of Zelda?] --- Any game purchases are on hold, and I don't see myself getting a Switch 2 for a long, long time -- but the Directs are still a fun watch.

@laamaa I really appreciate you making and sharing these VRC7 + 2a03 loops. This one in particular I really enjoyed, with the seeming piano and synth bass, and the sort of pensive atmosphere this loop provides. It just landed right for me today; thank you. :blobfoxhappy:

So, dear goodness, there are a LOT of propositions on the Colorado state ballot this year, by conservative and fascist organizations. Rocky Mountain Equality has a campaign, Hands Off Colorado, against at least three of those propositions: two of which are explicitly anti-trans, and one which mandates local law enforcement cooperation with federal authorities against immigrants (and we've seen this administration target undocumented and documented immigrants, as well as primarily non-wh...

If ever I get to the point where I can be skilled enough to program a game, I should start off with a simpler single-screen game, to limit the amount of potential scope creep. It's important that it be a beginning project for which I can reasonably make design documents, make static and animated pixel art assets, compose music, make sound effects, repeatedly test and debug as thoroughly as I can, optimize as best as I can, and then at some point consider stable enough for release. Eve...

Guten Morgen.
